XLPS for Investment Casting Wax

Cross-linked polystyrene (XLPS) resins have much higher thermal stability than conventional thermoplastic acrylic resins, making them ideal for use as fillers in investment casting waxes. Filled waxes have better thermal and dimensional stability than unfilled ones.

Our Colacryl® P2601 grade is an unmodified crosslinked polystyrene resin with spherical particles giving very efficient filling/packing ratios. It exhibits thermal stability up to around 300°C and leaves only tiny amounts of residual ash.

Polymers for Dispersions and Additives

Many of our polymers can be used as additives for extruded/sheet acrylics:

Colacryl® CRG107 PMMA powder can be used in solid surface production for pigment dispersions.

Colacryl® TS1647 PMMA can be used to add special surface effects to extruded plastic profiles.

Colacryl® P2601 cross-linked polystyrene can be used as a texturing agent, particularly for use in applications where fire resistance is important - because it is non-sparking and has a specific gravity similar to that of the surface coating, Colacryl® P2601 has much less tendency to settling than traditional inorganic texturing agents.
