What motivated my career moves
Over the past 13 years, my career has been driven by clear milestones I set early on and a desire to continuously grow beyond my initial expectations.
Each move gave me broader exposure — from operational and product-focused roles to regional leadership, and eventually to global business responsibility. What motivated me most was the opportunity to expand my impact across business, strategy, and organizational leadership.
How I prepared for my next roles
Investing in learning new skills
About 13 years ago, I started my career in a technical and operational role. This set me on a more elevated path than I imagined. I developed a strong understanding of products, manufacturing process, people and customer requirements.
I was very fortunate to be in a place where I could acquire knowledge & skills.
Owning my career development
At the early stage of my career, I learned a lesson. It’s my responsibility to plan & drive growth. Giving up control of your career development automatically puts you in the passenger seat and observer mode.
Taking on stretch opportunities
When I was asked to lead an EMEA division, and later a global division, under highly challenging circumstances, the fear of failure made me almost miss out on great opportunities.
Doing work that I enjoy
There have been moments in my professional life where I have enjoyed my work, and other seasons when I did less fun things. I have learned to lean into my strengths and know what brings me joy at work.
Doing things that align with company targets & my values gives me a lot of fulfillment.
Support I received along the way
The people who have been part of my journey have been one of the most significant contributors to my success. Having colleagues and companions I could share challenges with and celebrate successes with made this journey much more meaningful.
I was also fortunate to be in an environment that allowed me to acquire knowledge and develop my skills early in my career, which created a strong foundation for my growth.
Challenges I overcame
A key challenge has been overcoming the fear of failure when stepping into larger leadership roles, particularly when taking on EMEA and later global responsibilities.
At times, this hesitation almost made me step back from opportunities that ultimately became defining moments in my career. Learning to embrace stretch roles and reframe setbacks as learning opportunities has been critical to my development.
My advice to others
Take ownership of your career development early — growth is your responsibility, not something to wait for.
Increase your accountability by taking responsibility for outcomes and cross-functional initiatives. Embrace setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow rather than as failures.
Most importantly, stay true to your values while building your career, and seek roles that align both with your strengths and what gives you fulfillment.
