What motivated my career moves
People change positions for different reasons. Early in my career, I was motivated by development, job security, and stability. I believe that when employees feel confident about their future within a company, they can focus more effectively on their work.
Over time, I wanted roles where I could take on bigger projects and grow into leadership positions. I was also looking for an inclusive workplace where diverse voices are respected and valued, and where I could both learn from leaders and contribute actively.
How I prepared for my next roles
At the beginning of my career, I was not focused on specific development plans or structured learning. My main goal was to work properly and keep my job, as I was quite shy at the time.
Over the years, I participated in many trainings and also took part in leadership programmes, which supported my development into more senior roles.
Support I received along the way
Being given the opportunity to work in different but related departments helped me gain new skills, better appreciate colleagues’ responsibilities, and develop a broader understanding of the business.
The most valuable support I received were simple but powerful words: “I trust you, I believe in you, I need you.”
Challenges I overcame
Since I was quite shy in the early stages of my career, developing confidence and stepping more actively into growth opportunities was something I had to learn over time.
Another challenging period was during a time of sudden team changes in a complex project environment, where priorities had to be adjusted and gaps needed to be managed while continuing delivery. This required flexibility, focus, and resilience.
These experiences helped me build more confidence and strength in handling change and responsibility.
My advice to others
Remember that everyone makes mistakes. However, when you are surrounded by supportive people who encourage your growth, the sky is the limit.
If you believe in what you do, continue doing it—because one day someone will notice.
